Tasting Notes: Chianti Classico Riserva

chianti classico riserva

Elegance and refinement sometimes arise from everyday things. Chianti Classico is an example of this. The name itself defines the very conception of wine, with very few doubting its place in a discussion of great Tuscan denominational wines.

Over the last twenty years, Chianti Classico has reached qualitative and expressive depths like never seen before. What was once considered a daily wine has slowly blossomed into a glass of rare enjoyment, with easily recognizable organoleptic characteristics, which give merit to the great body that comes from a Sangiovese grape.

Get to know our Chianti Classico Riserva, aged for more than 12 months in oak barrels and a minimum of 10 months in the bottle.

Visual Test

The intense ruby red shines before our eyes thanks to the great anthocyanin content of the Sangiovese. This wine remains vivid and brilliant. Garnet is the result of maturation which immediately calls to mind a wine of great longevity and depth, which spins with its beautiful consistency along the sides of the glass which holds it.

Olfactive Test

The visual characteristics of this wine only confirm its elegance. A wine of good intensity and great persistence, the Chianti Classico Riserva emits a number of substantial olfactory notes from ripe forest fruit to vanilla as well as spicy and balsamic notes.

All of these envelop the senses without overtaking each other. Harmony is a distinctive character trait of this wine.

Taste Test

The taste of this wine can be characterized as agile and velvety, coupled with its full body, Chianti leaves little more to be desired. The tannin is abundant, mature and never aggressive, accompanied by an acidity of great character with a pleasant sapid hint.

The lingering and persistent character only confirms the abundance of this bouquet on the palate. This is a fine, full bodied, palatable wine is an ideal pairing for traditional dishes.

Recommended Pairings

The best pairing is the Florentine steak. Its succulence and light fattiness, covered with a drizzle of raw oil balances perfectly with the characteristics of Carpineto’s Chianti Classico Riserva. Other pairings include roasts and game which balance perfectly with every sip.

Other dishes include traditional Tuscan first courses such as pici al ragù or pappardelle with wild boar. These dishes are balanced perfectly by the clean and elegant taste of our Chianti Classico Riserva. It is also excellent with the most savory and seasoned cheeses.
