Today we present our Appodiato Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG – Cru di Sant’Ercolano.

Produced, like all of our Appodiati, in the vintages that we believe to be of the best quality. This wine truly gives credit to the history and fame of Sangiovese in the Polizia region.

Visual Test
The intense red color of this wine denotes the strong anthocyanin concentration of Sangiovese, which presents itself in all its splendor even in its most aged of bottles. Upon swirling a glass of this wine, we immediately notice its great consistency, thanks also to the desired and total lack of filtration. Its clarity is an effect of decantering.

Olfactory Test
Smelling the scents of our St. Herculaneum is similar to traveling, with your mind and senses, along a very wide range of familiar aromas. The clear hints of jams and red fruits are accompanied by blackcurrants, pepper, toast, the delicate nuances of vanilla and licorice which underline a unique persistence and intensity. This is a Sangiovese in all its elegance, finesse and importance.

Taste Test
At first sip, the great acidity of this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is more than evident, lending itself to a long refinement. What is particularly striking is the elegance of the sip: full, warm, important, rightly savory but never aggressive. The great olfactory finesse is confirmed, and amplified, upon tasting.

Pairing Recommendations

The best pairings for a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are traditional Italian and Tuscan cuisine such as roasts, grilled meats and Florentine steak. It is an excellent wine for Easter lunch, where the main course is lamb, preferably baked, or even barbecued.
