Carpineto releases two new products at Vinitaly: Farnito Vinsanto del Chianti DOC 1986 and Farnito Distillato di Uve.

Carpineto, a quality leader in Tuscan winemaking, releases their first vintage of Vinsanto del Chianti DOC. It takes a special winery to release a new product that is 16 years old, especially when the first vintage is 1986. "Only an average vintage for reds", states Giovanni Carlo Sacchet, winemaker and partner in the winery, "however 1986 was the first time the stars were in perfect alignment for our Vinsanto production, so we took the time to age it to perfection. The next vintage that met our standards is 1993, which is still maturing in oak and chestnut barrels, thus quite a few years from being bottled".

"We are mostly a red wine winery known for releasing our age worthy wines after a substantial bottle aging program" states Antonio M. Zaccheo, the other partner in Carpineto, "so for us this dessert wine had to jump a very high quality bar or we were not going to bottle it last October". Only 4,900 bottles of 500ml were produced from 60% Trebbiano and 40% Malvasia grapes, dried in wooden boxes then slowly barrel fermented during the winter months in oak and chestnut barrels, where it aged for over 15 years.  Displaying an intense, complex nose with hints of apricots, peach jam and walnuts, the flavor strikes a good balance between the complex, intense balsamic fragrances, the alcohol and the sweetness. Best served as a dessert wine or in accompaniment to strong cheeses such as Pecorino and Gorgonzola. Makes for an excellent meditation wine.

Only 2000 bottles of 500ml Farnito Distillato di Uve were made. "We wanted to make liquid treasures that capture the essence and flavorful character of our land", states Zaccheo.  The Distillato di Uve was steam distilled in a discontinuous alembic with the boiler having a soaking method under vacuum to allow the full capture of all the typical fruity, fresh aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc grape varietal.
